Playing Safely at Starzino
Warning signs we ask you to watch for
Gambling has become a problem when it stops being a pastime and starts to affect the rest of your life. Common signs are staking more than you planned, chasing losses with larger bets, borrowing money to play, hiding your play from family or friends, losing sleep or missing work because of a session, and feeling irritable when you try to stop. If two or more of these sound familiar, use the tools below or speak to one of the services at the end of this page. Our team can set a time-out for you through live chat, and it takes effect straight away.
Why we treat gambling as entertainment
Gambling is a paid form of entertainment and never a way to earn money, because every game is built so that the casino keeps a margin over a very large number of rounds. Decide on a budget before you play, using only money that is left after rent, bills and food, and set it as a deposit limit so that the account enforces it for you. Do not claim a bonus as a reason to deposit more than you planned, and stop when the budget or your planned time is used up. Starzino accepts deposits from £17, but nothing obliges you to deposit more than you are comfortable losing.
The limits you can set with us
Every account includes deposit limits, loss limits, session reminders, time-outs and self-exclusion, and you set them in your account settings. Tightening a limit, a time-out and self-exclusion all take effect straight away. A request to raise a limit only applies after 24 hours, which protects you from a decision made during a bad session.
| Tool | What it does | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit limit | Caps what you can pay in over a period | Straight away when lowered, after 24 hours when raised |
| Loss limit | Caps your net losses over a period | Straight away when lowered, after 24 hours when raised |
| Session reminder | Tells you how long you have been playing | Once set |
| Time-out | Blocks access for a period you choose | Straight away |
| Self-exclusion | Closes access to your account for a longer period | Straight away |
How we keep under-18s out
You must be 18 or over to open an account, and you confirm your age with a tick box at registration. Before your first withdrawal we check a passport or UK photocard driving licence, and an account found to belong to a minor is closed. If children use your devices, switch on Google Family Link or Apple Screen Time, keep your phone locked, and do not save your password or card details in a shared browser. Never let anyone under 18 play on your account.
Where to get help
If gambling is hurting you or someone close to you, free and confidential help is available in the United Kingdom. GamCare runs the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133, free and open 24/7. Gordon Moody offers residential treatment and support on 01384 241292, and Gambling Therapy provides free online support and forums.
GAMSTOP is the national online self-exclusion scheme, but it covers only operators licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, so it does not exclude you from Starzino. To exclude yourself from our site, use the self-exclusion tool in your account settings or ask live chat.
